10 Random Kristen Bell Roles You Totally Forgot About

Would you look at that? Kristen Bell is celebrating her 35th birthday on July 18, which is all the excuse we need to binge-watch Veronica Mars and Heroes reruns and download lots of sloth videos. Thanks, K.B.!

Career-wise, this gal really gets around. When she’s not lending her voice to Anna of Frozen fame or melting our hearts with husband Dax Shepard in a Samsung commercial, Bell is busy acting up a storm on House of Lies and making loads other exciting on-screen appearances. She’s everywhere, and she’s been everywhere. Before she won our hearts as Veronica Mars, she’d already carved out some seriously impressive guest-starring roles. Does her tattooed turn on The Shield ring a bell? Or her scene in Pootie Tang? Don’t tell us you’ve forgotten her contributions to Deadwood AND Everwood.

These roles may not be as memorable as, say, Gossip Girl or even When in Rome, but they do deserve proper recognition. If not for yourself, do it for Kristen. It is her birthday, after all.

Polish Wedding (1998)

Why, yes, that is Kristen Bell hanging out with Claire Danes. Unfortunately, her character had no lines and remained nameless.

Pootie Tang (2001)

Bell’s first “real” role? A stint as a tough-talking record executive’s daughter in Pootie Tang. Fun fact: Louis C.K. wrote and directed the cult comedy film.

The Shield (2003)

Bell plays Jessica, a murder victim’s girlfriend who was brutally raped by a local gangster. The dove tattoo was her attacker’s calling card.

Everwood (2003)

Bell appears as a cheerleader with ruptured breast implants on the WB show.

Deadwood (2004)

The same year she broke out as Veronica Mars, the actress filmed two episodes of this HBO hit. Bell plays the manipulative Flora Anderson.

Deepwater (2005)

Bell plays the minor role of Nurse Laurie in this not-very-successful thriller.

Party Down (2009-10)

Bell plays uptight, type-A party planner Uda Bengt, who briefly dates Adam Scott’s character, Henry.

Burlesque (2010)

It must be the dark hair, but we always forget that Kristen Bell is even in this Cher/Christina Aguilera film.

Scream 4 (2011)

Bell and Anna Paquin have cameo roles in the slasher flick’s latest installment.

Safety Not Guaranteed (2012)

Meet Belinda St. Sing, the object of Mark Duplass’ slightly confused affection.
